English Conversation (Thursday evenings in central Sala)

18:00 to 21:00

Course description: This is a great chance to improve your everyday English and become more confident when speaking in social and work situations

Just come along and chat about all things British with a small group of people who, like you, want to improve their pronunciation and knowledge of English.

What do we do in the course? In an informal setting we discuss interesting articles (news, culture, short stories etc). We watch short films (documentaries, comedies, drama, quizzes) and read out loud to each other. We also chat about all things British - how the language is used in different situations, why some words are pronounced in unexpected ways, and look at some confusing spellings (‘through/threw’ and ‘bough/bow’ for example). We sometimes find ‘false friends’ where a Swedish word seems the same as an English word but actually means something quite different (‘eventually’ for example) and we have great fun when we encounter tongue-twisters and eccentric English expressions.

The aim of the course is to help you speak with more confidence, and improve your fluency. It is also a great opportunity to converse with a native English speaker.

This course is suitable for you if you already have a medium-to-good level of English but simply need more practice at speaking.

(no books or other materials required)
